Our Trainer
| Warren Retrievers’ Master Trainer, Dee Bogetti, specializes in service, therapy and companion dog training, as well as behavior modification. Her positive training techniques, including clicker training, enhance the bond you have with your dog. She offers scent training for medical alert dogs, as well as public access training for all service and therapy dogs. In addition, Dee temperament tests all Warren Retriever litters to determine the best placement for each pup. |

Dee is founder of Life’s Journey Therapy Dogs. She created the first therapy dog program within the domestic violence community and provides animal-assisted therapy for hospitals, elder-care communities, and hospice with her therapy dog, Murphy. Dee and Murphy are a Delta Society Pet Partners team.
Dee is a full member of the American Association of Pet Dog Trainers and an AKC Canine Good Citizen and Star Puppy evaluator. She is a public speaker, writer and educator and the co-host of Bark Radio, a bi-weekly internet radio show. She is the author of the premier puppy book, Puppies eat shoes, don't they?, as well as a monthly e-newsletter, and two blogs:

"I really wasn’t thinking when I asked the handlers to take the chain leash off the 400-pound Bengal tiger. When I was younger and trying to make it as a photographer, I was so intent on getting an unusual shot or something that was just out of the norm, I often
put myself into some difficult situations. I was frustrated that I could not get a shot of
the semi-tame tiger without the collar around its neck showing up in the shot. Both handlers asked me if I was sure I wanted to do that, and I figured we are walking around with the thing so it must be OK...

Our Veterinary Center:

Springfield Veterinary Center is a full service veterinary facility established in July 2000 by Dr. Steve Escobar. They offer full medical diagnosis and treatment, pharmacy, dental, surgical, emergency care, and x-ray services, including OFA and Penn Hip. Both Dr. Escobar and Dr. Scotti are Penn Hip certified. Dr. Kolster adds reproductive specialty services as a Diplomat of the American College of Theriogenology. Springfield Veterinary Center is an accredited member of AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association).
They undergo regular inspections by AAHA to ensure that we comply with the association’s highest quality standards of care. These standards cover every aspect of our facility including surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, pet health records, cleanliness, emergency services, dental, and nursing care, diagnostics and anesthesiology. Approximately 14% of animal hospitals in North America are accredited by AAHA.

The Canine Reproductive Center at Springfield Veterinary Center is well-known for standards of excellence and progressive treatments. Dr. Escobar and Dr. Kolster perform routine canine semen freezing and storage. They also perform artificial inseminations, surgical artificial inseminations and progesterone timing as well as ultrasounds to determine pregnancy.
The Veterinarians :

Steve Escobar, DVM

Dr. Escobar is a 1990 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VMRCVM) at Virginia Tech. He received the prestigious “Outstanding Young Alumnus Award” from the college in 2001.
Dr. Escobar served as President of the Central Virginia Veterinary Medical Assoication (CVVMA) in 1995 and has been Legislative Chair for the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA) for a decade. He served on the Executive Committee of the VVMA for four years, and as President in 2004. Dr. Escobar was a member of the Dean Search Committee for the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 and served as a member of the Admissions Committee for the college for one year.
He has a special interest in canine reproductive medicine and is a member of the Society for Theriogenology, VVMA, AVMA, and AAHA. In 2007 Dr. Escobar received the VVMAs Distinguished Virginia Veterinarian Award.
Kara Kolster, DVM
Dr. Kolster is a 2004 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VMRCVM) at Virginia Tech. In 2007, she completed a residency in Theriogenology at VMRCVM. Dr. Kolster received the Outstanding Master’s Student Award from the College in 2007. She is now a Board-certified specialist in reproductive medicine.
Dr. Kolster is also working toward completion of her Master’s Degree, with a research emphasis on the relationship between hypothyroidism and reproduction in dogs. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists and a member of the Society for Theriogenology, VVMA, AVMA, and AAHA.
Chris Scotti, VMD
Dr. Scotti is a 1995 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated summa cum Laude and is a member of the Phi Beta Veterinary Honor Society.
Dr. Scotti has practiced medicine in Richmond since earning his veterinary degree. Broad Street Veterinary Hospital was Dr. Scotti’s home base until he joined the Springfield Veterinary Center as a partner in 2003.
